Mala beads are one of the oldest tools of meditation practice around the world. To use, one recites a mantra for each bead they count, counting by touching one bead at a time, typically between the thumb and pointer fingers. Mala strands carry 108 beads on them with a guru bead at the end. Once you reach the guru bead at the end, switch directions and begin counting/chanting in the opposite direction from which you started. Traditionally, one is not supposed to cross the center/end bead when chanting.  Mala beads are a perfect addition to your walking meditation and help to focus the mind on an intention or prayer.

This Mala String is open at both ends and contains 108 beads.
